About Us

Our Story

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. -Harriet Tubman

Our mission is to empower black women through sisterhood, global community service, and exposure. Our vision is one community with infinite possibilities. We are creating safe spaces for black women. While our mission and vision will remain unchanged – we aim to be highly adaptive to the needs of our community.

NAABW was founded in April 2015 by a team of sisters and girlfriends. Our 501(c)(3) organization is designed to serve as a catalyst for empowerment. NAABW was soft launched during 2015 – we used this time to gather data about the relevance of our message and programs. The organization hard launched in July 2016.

We are a team of social entrepreneurs. We are forward thinkers. We have open minds and hearts. We are friends & sisters. We are committed to this work. Together we use our skills and passions to build an effective organization. Get to know us below as we each share who we are using one descriptive word below!
